Kiefer Sutherland returns to WNY for Niagara Falls show

Unknown     December 11, 2016

NIAGARA FALLS -- Kiefer Sutherland must have liked it here. Having performed at Buffalo Iron Works over the summer, the actor-turned-country-singer is making a quick re-visit in the form of a Feb. 18 concert at Seneca Niagara Casino & Resort.

Tickets are $45 each for the intimate Bears Den setting at the casino, where Sutherland will showcase his debut album “Down In A Hole.” The country music collection is the culmination of what he calls the “closest thing I’ve ever had to a journal or diary.” In addition to the Iron Works show in May, Sutherland's tour has included performances at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards and on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Sutherland has been a professional actor for over 30 years, starring in movies such as "Stand By Me," "The Lost Boys," "Young Guns," "Flatliners," "A Few Good Men." He is perhaps most known these days for his award-winning role as Jack Bauer on the hit FOX series "24." Sutherland now stars on the hit ABC series "Designated Survivor."

Unknown to many during the course of his career, Sutherland has taken on other vocations with the same kind of dedication and commitment - one of those being music. In 2002, Sutherland, with his music partner and best friend Jude Cole, began a small record label called Ironworks. The goal of this label was to record local musicians and distribute their music at a time when the music industry was going through a monumental shift. Some of their artists included Rocco DeLuca and the Burden, HoneyHoney and Billy Boy On Poison.

In early 2015, Sutherland played Cole two songs he had written and wanted to record as demos for other artists to record. Cole responded positively to the songs, encouraged Sutherland to record them, and the album grew organically from those recordings. Two songs became four and four grew into six, until Cole suggested that they make a record. The collaboration resulted in Sutherland's debut album, "Down In A Hole."

He hit the road for the first time earlier this year, and has performed the album live across the country.

"All of these songs are pulled from my own personal experiences," Sutherland said. "There is something very satisfying about being able to look back on my own life, good times and bad, and express those sentiments in music."

He continued, "As much as I have enjoyed the writing and recording process, I am experiencing great joy now being able to play these songs to a live audience, which was something I hadn't counted on."

Purchase tickets at 8 Clans or the Players Club Store inside Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, online at www.ticketmaster.com, at any Ticketmaster location, or order by phone by calling 1-800-745-3000.

NIAGARA FALLS -- After an extended hiatus, Billy Draws 2 returned to the stage Friday night, playing before a crowd at Evening Star Concert Hall for the release of their new CD, "Now With KungFu Grip."

The band, which had taken time off while drummer Mike Miller "beat fucking cancer," as lead singer Billy Horn so eloquently put it, returned with energy and their signature humor. Guitarist Doug Life and bassist Rosie Lorenti helped to get the already-excited crowd even more into the show.

Opening for BD2 were Mystic Ape and Exham Priory.

Few tickets remain to Friday night Billy Talent show at Rapids Theatre

Unknown     September 08, 2016

NIAGARA FALLS -- Tickets still remain -- though not many -- for Friday night's Billy Talent show at the Rapids Theatre. In fact, Rapids Theatre General Manager Marc Violino said this afternoon that if the show doesn't sell out, the number of tickets remaining is likely to only be in double digits.

The Canadian rock band enjoys added popularity in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls market thanks to its heavy rotation on Canadian and Buffalo alternative radio stations. Front man Benjamin Kowalewicz is a former DJ on CFNY in Toronto, which couldn't have hurt when the band was looking for airplay.

Doors open for the show at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 pre-sale or $30 at the door -- if it doesn't sell out. They're available at The Rapids Theatre box office, 1711 Main St. or online at www.ticketfly.com. Los Angeles-based BadFlower will open the show.

Following the Niagara Falls show, the band heads to New York City, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Michigan and Illinois before heading to Europe on Oct. 12.

The Stolen, Mike Shiavo to headline Niagara Falls show

Unknown     June 28, 2016

NIAGARA FALLS -- The Stolen and 2016 "The Voice" contestant Mike Shiavo will headline a July 10 show at the Evening Star Concert Hall.

The Stolen, a pop/rock band from Old Bridge, NJ, consists of of Dom Cuce on vocals, Rob Chiarappa on guitar and vocals, Kevin Smart on bass, and Mike Chiarappa on drums. The quartet formed in 2005 as neighborhood friends who began performing their favorite covers at shows and built quite a following from taking top hits and adding their own melodic twist.

They began writing and performing their own material in 2009, developing a devout following by touring the U.S. and Canada, opening for heavy-hitters Neon Trees and All American Rejects.

Their debut EP, "Adults," combined the band’s undeniable catchy hooks with sincere lyrics, unforgettable choruses, and singing guitar solos to define their unique sound. While the EP tells a heartfelt story of growing up, the music varies from lighthearted tracks like "Motion Sickness" to darker emo jams like "Getting New at Growing Old" finding that perfect blend that Alternative music has been waiting for.

Following Adults, the band released “Chardonnay” an emotionally right tune released in 2015, produced by Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, The Dangerous Summer). The current tour promotes their latest offering, "I’m So Dead," co-produced by guitarist Rob Chiarappa and Mike Oettinger (Man Overboard, Transit) and mastered by Grammy-nominated German Mastering engineer Robin Schmidt (The 1975, The Black Keys, Mumford and Sons).

Mike Schiavo, aka Spots, a contestant on the 2016 season of The Voice, is a 20-year-old singer/songwriter raised in Colonia, NJ. His biggest inspiration is The King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley.

Schiavo's style of pop-rock has been stealing hearts all over the world through Youtube where his channel has received almost half a million views and is a member of the Awesomeness TV Network. Mike's music career quickly took off and now you can see him performing with numerous national acts. Mike's popularity, success, and talent are leading him to take over the music industry.

The bill is a presentation of For the Music Productions.
