PODCAST: ThinkSoJoe Show for Feb. 3, 2016

Unknown     February 03, 2016

It's the inaugural ThinkSoJoe Show on All WNY Radio. Listen to the podcast over and over again. No really. Do it. It's good for you.

ThinkSoJoe Show to start tonight

Unknown     February 03, 2016
The ThinkSoJoe Show with longtime All WNY Radio friend and alumni Joe Kent will air its first episode at 6 p.m., the first of what promises to be many entertaining shows on the new All WNY Radio sound stream.

Kent, a 34-year-old Buffalo resident will be joined in studio by Lost Elysium's Brian Muller, also of Buffalo for the weekly two-hour-long show. The pair will play local music, discuss upcoming shows and talk about the weather -- and anything else they find appropriate -- or inappropriate if they like. The no-holds-barred show can be heard by clicking the "listen" tab on AllWNYRadio.com or clicking "listen" in the All WNY Radio Mobile app for Android.

All WNY Radio recently had to switch servers for its all-local music stream. Website listeners may not have noticed the change but those using the mobile app will have to update to a new version, available here (link).

All WNY Radio continues to get music submissions from those in the 716 and 585 area codes -- but we'd always like more. To contribute to the sound stream, submit your tracks via the music uploader.

To those interested in hosting a show on All WNY Radio, contact "The Man with the Plan" Scott Leffler at scott.leffler@allwnyradio.com.

Beta test the new All WNY Radio Android app

Unknown     January 09, 2016
There's plenty of cool things coming up from All WNY Radio.

We moved our music servers to a new streaming format on Friday and we'll be announcing the 2015 All WNY Music Award winners soon, as well as introducing a new talk show and more. And we're moving into our new office at ART247 in Lockport next week.

Today, we introduce a free (beta version) Android app available for download immediately. The app must be currently be "sideloaded" onto Android devices but once we are sure the app functions as we think it does (that's what makes it beta), we'll put it into the Google Play Store.

The functionality of the app is pretty simple. Listen to the live stream (and keep listening even after you move on to other tasks), check recent posts from AllWNYRadio.com, link to our Facebook and Twitter, download podcasts and visit the whole site. It also has notifications so we can send a message straight to your phone when we have a live show.

Please feel free to download the app and use it. But we ask that you send us an email to let us know what you think of it. Especially if everything doesn't work properly. And let us know what mobile device you're using so we can add it to the verified list of devices.

Of course, we're always looking for new music. If you're from Western New York (that's Jamestown to Rochester and everything in between), submit your tunes via our contact page.

We're also renewing our effort to raise funds for our operations. If everyone who has visited AllWNYRadio.com in the past month donated $1, it would pay our costs for the year. Consider throwing a dollar our way (even change adds up) via PayPal or make a recurring donation on Patreon.

For those of you who want something MORE for your money, consider display or audio advertising on All WNY Radio. Contact us for details.

We'll have more announcements in the near future. Keep your eyes here and your ears on the music.

Update on All WNY Music Awards ...

Unknown     November 01, 2015
People have been asking us some questions about the All WNY Music Awards. We thought we should answer.

We ARE awarding the All WNY Music Awards this year. We're just a bit behind in our tallying. Like ... very behind. Although the vote page remained active, voting closed on Sept. 23 - the first day of fall. All votes cast since then will not be tallied.

We will not be able to host or hold an awards ceremony this year. Due to the recent transition at AllWNYRadio and general busy-ness of the All WNY Music Awards team, it's just not feasible. So instead let's plan on having an even bigger and better one in 2016.

Our apologies for not being more communicative recently. Everyone's been very busy.

Now ... I have to go back to counting votes.

Welcome to the all-new All WNY Radio

Unknown     October 31, 2015
Today's the day that All WNY Radio "comes home" to where it all started nearly 10 years ago.

After more than six years of phenomenal stewardship by Corey Hagstrom, the site returns to my control -- as does the 24/7/365 audio broadcast.

You'll notice a few changes immediately. Obviously, the site design is completely re-done. We added a section just to list the bands on the audio broadcast. We hope that list grows in the very near future. We will also be adding a page to list popular live-music venues in Western New York.

We added links to all of our social media and plan to re-integrate 10 years worth of blog posts and podcasts. Basically, we want more interaction with musicians and fans. To that goal, we also plan on promoting and sponsoring live shows in Western New York -- from Rochester to Jamestown and everything in between.

And the audio broadcast works just a touch differently. Yes, you have to click an extra button but what you get for that click is pretty incredible. We switched the broadcast from streaming on our own servers to Live365, a professional Internet radio hosting company. This means, among other things, we should have virtually no downtime. The Live365 servers are protected against network- and power outages so if you can access the site, you should hear music whenever you want.

As we build the music library, we'll parse the music out so that we can have specific genres play at specific times. So if you just want rap, you just get rap. Or if country's your thing, we can have a playlist with just that, too. Of course, in order to do that, we need more music submissions.

We plan to roll out an Android app in the very near future, followed by an iPhone app when funds allow.

Speaking of which, we started a fundraiser through Patreon to help defray some of the costs. A few donations here and there of a couple bucks a month will go a long way ... and be very appreciated.

anniversary party on April 1, 2011. Corey's taking time off from running the
show but he'll always be our "fearless leader." (FILE PHOTO)
And speaking of appreciation: I would like to publicly thank Corey and everyone who has seen to it that All WNY Radio not only survived, but grew, in my absence. It takes a real love of music to spend the time and money each month needed to keep a site like All WNY Radio up and running. And it takes even more to constantly try to innovate and incorporate new people and shows.

As for the shows: Unfortunately, I don't know any of the awesome people who have been doing the shows on All WNY Radio -- except for Corey, of course. But to Cookie and Kev, Drew, Andrew Baird, and the folks behind Prospiracies and Conpaganda -- I hope we can find a way to keep you involved. Our live shows have a long and celebrated history and we plan to continue them.

If you're interested in helping All WNY Radio to the next level -- whether its by adding music to the live stream, taking on the challenge of running your own studio show, or kicking in a few bucks, please get ahold of me. I look forward to talking with you.

We want your tracks

Unknown     October 31, 2015
All WNY Radio is planning to re-launch on Sunday, Nov. 1 -- the longest day of the year -- and we want new music when we do it.

We're changing the way we do some things around here, but not our 100 percent support of local music.

So please, WNY artists, take a minute to send us some new tunes. If you've recorded anything in 2015 and we don't have it, DROP EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING and get us those tracks!

Please submit them via the contact page here on AllWNYRadio.com.

We have more announcements coming soon. But first ... get us those tracks.
