Lady Gaga tour to skip Buffalo

Unknown     February 06, 2017
Fresh off the heels of her Super Bowl LI performance Sunday night, Lady Gaga announced a world tour beginning in August. But Western New Yorkers looking to catch a show will have to travel.

No Buffalo date is slated for the 48-date tour, however shows are planned for Toronto, Cleveland and New York City.

The first "local" visit will be in Cleveland on Aug. 23 at the Quicken Loans Arena, followed by Aug. 28 at New York's Citi Field and Sept. 6 at Air Canada Centre.

The "Joanne" tour will be the first major solo tour Gaga has done since 2014. Tickets go on sale Friday.

HEaRD in WNY: Top shows for Feb. 9 - 15

Unknown     February 06, 2017
This week's featured show is Lemuria at 7 p.m. Friday at Mohawk Place.

"The Distance Is So Big" continues in the band's tradition of songs that unfold like mini-suites, hopscotching from one melodic figure or time signature to the next with a playwright's sense of structure." - NPR

Without a distinguishable understanding of the pop and intensity, a silent video of a Lemuria show would appear to be that of a blistering hardcore trio. To the viewers surprise, turning the audio on they'd find an intricate indie-pop trio.

Lemuria might not sound like they are from Buffalo, NY, but the band was proudly birthed here, following the legacy of an oddly eclectic, if not eccentric, music scene. When you loosen your ears to the sugary indie-pop, you'll discover discordant notes, odd time signatures, and brutal riffs creating menacing yet catchy music.

One of our local staples, Lemuria continue to rock the stage with a smile every here & there. It's always a treat when they announce another show, and as per usual it looks to sell out at Buffalo's legendary Mohawk Place! Get your tickets if you haven't already & join in the fun!
